So you are coming to District Conference? You must be excited. We are happy to have you joining us for this fun-filled weekend together!
Here are some helpful tips to help you prepare for and plan your weekend of Rotary:
House of Friendship
Space in this year's House of Friendship is completely booked! If you didn't register in advance, we apologize that we cannot accept walk-ins.
Set up will be from 2-5:30pm Friday afternoon (during registration) and again Saturday morning during breakfast. Take down will be after conference wraps up around 11am Sunday morning.
You will have downtime during meals, between breakout sessions, Saturday afternoon, Saturday's cocktail hour and even Sunday morning to check out the displays and make new friends in the House of Friendship. Feel free to pop in whenever you want to relax for a bit or need a little snack!
If you have any questions about your display space, you can contact House of Friendship Chair Pam Fallesen at lizardmom67@hotmail.com.
Wine Tasting Opportunities
Saturday at 3pm, in the Cohocton Room, we will welcome Women for New York State Wines, a volunteer organization whose goal is to expose more people to NY State wines through tasting events that will educate consumers and encourage them to purchase more locally grown wines. It is $10/person to attend, which comes with unlimited tastings, a wine glass and a Rotary wine glass charm to take home! This should be a fun option for your free time since you don't have to worry about having some wine and driving!

Be A Conference Helper
If you wish to pitch in during the weekend, we are recruiting Sergeant-at-Arms volunteers. You could be selling raffle tickets, directing people where to go, answering questions about where to find something in the hotel, giving out door prizes, etc. It's a fun and easy way to help out for a couple hours during the weekend! Please contact Clark Speicher at cfs@twcny.rr.com to volunteer today!

Get Ready to Shop Rotary!
We will have a Rotary Shop open throughout the weekend in the Director's Room where you can stock up on Rotary pins, gifts and attire. We have partnered with Awards 4 U to have some really nice items for sale.
A Weekend for Generosity
You will want to consider this as a great opportunity to make a contribution to the Rotary International Foundation (if you haven't already) and to support club and district events.
We will do 50/50 raffles Friday and Saturday evenings. One will benefit Puerto Rico Hurricane Relief and another will go to the D3 program that you'll be learning more about Saturday morning.

We are collecting items for the Veteran's Outreach Center (see the note on the left side of the screen - at the top of the page - for a list of items they need) and you might find that clubs are looking for support for their fundraisers in the House of Friendship!
Book Spa Appointments Now
There is a spa conveniently located in the hotel, as well as an indoor pool (so pack your swimming attire!). It's always best to call ahead and book your appointment in advance. Ideal times for Rotarians would be during registration on Friday (2-5pm), during free-time on Saturday (1-5pm) or after conference ends around noon on Sunday. Heritage Village of the Southern Finger Lakes
The Oldest Tavern in Painted Post - Experience Life in the 1800’s. The first innkeepers, Benjamin and Sarah Patterson, built the Benjamin Patterson Inn at the Heritage Village of the Southern Finger Lakes in 1796. It is now the oldest existing tavern in the Lands of Painted Post. Long ago, people would travel to the Finger Lakes Region to buy land from the Pulteney Estate. They'd travel the frontier highway, which was Williamson Road (now Route 15) and the Chemung River. Weary travelers would be welcomed by the Pattersons with a hot meal and place to rest for the night. When you visit the Heritage Village of the Southern Finger Lakes today, you can see the Tavern or Tap Room where guests once socialized and conducted business. The dining room and kitchen with working open hearth fireplace can both be seen, as can the long room, which houses an extensive collection of textile equipment. Walk through the Patterson's quarters, and view guest quarters displayed as if it were still 1800.

The Rockwell Museum
While it first gained a reputation for its exceptional collection of Western and Native American Art, it became upstate New York’s only Smithsonian Affiliate because of its tireless efforts to explore and convey the American Experience through fine art. In addition to the museum’s extraordinary permanent collection, there are two or three rotating exhibits each year designed to examine the people, land and ideas that shape America through the eyes of American artists, offering visitors the sort of world-class art not typically found in a town of only 11,000 people. Located in the historic City Hall building, The Rockwell Museum has been woven into the rich history that makes Corning such a special small town.
Less than 5-minute walk to 111 Cedar Street, Corning, NY 14830
The Corning Museum of Glass
Ever been to a museum entirely focused around a single material? Ever thought of glass as more than just something you drink out of? At the Corning Museum of Glass, you'll gain a whole new perspective about a seemingly common place material. Spend a half-hour at a Hot Glass Show, witnessing a molten blob transform into something exquisite and you'll never look at glass the same way again.
With over 3,500 years of history housed in a building designed to mimic the flow of glass, the Corning Museum of Glass is home to the largest collection of art glass in the world. Travel through centuries of glassmaking, from the early core forming of the Mesopotamians, to the beautiful stained glass windows of Louis Comfort Tiffany. Learn how the Romans discovered glass blowing and see the handiwork of Venetian masters. Walk through an entire gallery dedicated to Corning, and learn how it came to be known as the 'Crystal City.'
